Photos 2020
2020 starting off like 2007. Evaporating snare corps making competing a hard prospect. First performance of the year the Mid-Winter Ceilidh featuring Cape Breton music and dance legends (but youthful, cool legends) Wendy MacIsaac and Mac Morin. We worked toward putting a smaller band on the field in 2020, with plans for regional games and a trip to Ontario, and then the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and by mid-March the whole season started shutting down, one event at a time. In June, the band held a fundraiser for the Regina and Moose Jaw Food banks, sending small groups pipers and drummers to play at the required distance for Father's Day. We raised $3000 for the Regina Food Band, $900 in Moose Jaw, and we had a great time re-connecting face-to-face, and helping others in the community. The band continued to meet and "practice" using Zoom online, and in July and August we held a number of outdoor rehearsals, still maintaining social distance and everyone doing their own tuning. A year like 2020 reinforces that pipe band is community, and we're determined to be here as a community, and for our larger community, when this is all done.
